Leave a little plastic shoe somewhere. He'll drive himself crazy for an evening trying to figure out which doll it came from, and where the other shoe is.
Now picture this: he's working late at the bar. He's counting down the minutes to closing time. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees it. A pink plastic shoe sitting on the bar top, twin to the one he found a few days ago. A customer calls for his attention. He turns back, and the shoe is gone.
