That makes things easier, actually. The more physical interactions there are, the harder it is to maintain an illusion. Only making you look like you've lost your head is easy.

I think it'd take about 1k lbs of pressure to crush one from the outside. So from the inside [...] I'd imagine a little less? Realistically speaking it could only happen if there was a lot of gas trapped inside the skull. The gas would probably have to be superheated, too.
